Overall Thoughts: Well..that wasn't great and was in contention for worst Prizm break I've had until I hit the T-Ferg Red Pulsar RC. That card has serious potential and if I sell it, I could see that bringing in half my money back. Still besides that, a pretty bad break. Only one card worth showing and that's the Ferguson

Case Breaks: 1 Blaster Case of 2018 Topps Heritage Baseball

So Ebay has been having KILLER promos recently and one of them was 15% your purchase. It gave me an excuse to try a Blaster case of 2018 Heritage. Considering how much Hobby boxes of this stuff go far, getting a entire 16 box blaster case at under retail price (it ended up averaging about $16.50 a box) seemed like a good deal and a fun rip as well. It is retail though, so I wasn't expecting too much, but hey, you never know. Here's what I got!

Overall Thoughts: I don't know what's going on with the formatting but that was a fun break. I
was able to complete a base set (1:400) and also pull numerous inserts of Bryant, Judge, Devers, Hoskins, Rosario, etc. The Scherzer was a nice pull, as was the Stanton Bzaooka greats, but I pulled a legit Top 5 pull in the Trout Nickname Varation. Those are super hard to find and I've seen them sell anywhere from $100-$150. I Like Trout so it's staying in the PC. Overall a very enjoyable break!

Box Breaks: 4 Boxes of 2017-18 Select Basketball

No, it's not deja vu, this is the hobby version of Select and not the Panini Exclusive FOTL boxes I opened two weeks ago, which by the way I take back all my pessimism about that break (though I still wouldn't open it at it's current insane prices). I did REALLY well selling cards from that break including getting $350 for the Ben Simmons Green Prizm and nearly $200 for the Kuzma. Along with selling some other cards from the break, I more than made my money back on my investment. I wasn't looking to sell the Simmons, but with hits like those I always put a pretty high BIN on EBay and if the right offer comes around that's too good to pass up, I'll take it, otherwise it stays in the collection. $350 was too good to pass up! Anyways, so I had pre ordered these at $120 apiece (now currently $170 apiece online) because I wanted to rip some Select but was afraid I'd get shut out on FOTL boxes. Luckily I didn't but I still have these 4 boxes to rip. So...time to see if Select FOTL was really more "loaded" than hobby. For my sake I hope not, I want some nice pulls that rival FOTL! Overall Thoughts: WOW..how PATHETIC was this break. I should've never complained about my FOTL break because this crap was a million times worse. Up there as one of the worst breaks I've ever had. Mostly crap and I doubt all of the cards combined wouldn't cover the cost of 1 box at $120. When Panini boxes are bad they are BADDDDDD. I was really looking forward to this and am very disappointed that out of  4 boxes I didn't pull anything remotely worthwhile. Pics of the better cards if you wanna call them that.

Box Breaks: 2017-18 Prizm Value Rack Box

I've never opened so much retail Prizm in my life, but Ebay was having a 20% off sale and considering these boxes sell for $220 or more a box online, I ended up getting 2 for $165 apiece. Unfortunately, the seller only shipped one box, but he's shipping the 2nd one out tomorrow, so I'll have it to open sometime next week. Here's what I got

Red Pulsar Prizm
Omer Asik

Overall Thoughts: Another middle of the road break with no big monsters. The Tatum Green is a solid card. I already have one, but hey selling that should get me close to half my money back. An extra Tatum base RC is sweet too. The Lauri Markkanen Green Emergent is another on of those better pulls on paper than what it's actually worth, but it's still a decentish card, as is the Jonathan Issac Green. The Silvers of John Collins and Jarrett Allen are decent as well, which pretty much sums of this break..decent. Hopefully I'll have a little more luck next week when I get Box #2 in. Pics of the better cards

February Pickups!

I know I know..we're 10 days into March but I haven't had a chance to post my pickups from last month. So let's get to it!

98-99 Topps Stadium Club Triumvirate Luminescent Anfernee Hardaway

Talk about a no brainer purchase. This beautiful late 90's insert of Penny only cost me 6 bucks. Ranks up there as one of my favorite Penny inserts in my collection!

2017-18 Panini Prizm Autographs Jayson Tatum (BGS 9)

I still don't have an on card auto of Tatum, but I love Prizm and couldn't pass this up. I'll get an on card eventually.

2017-18 Panini Chronicles Gold Standard Dennis Smith Jr. RC AU Parallel (#32/49)

I was super bummed Panini decided to discontinue Gold Standard this season as a stand alone product and instead combine it with other brands into one called Chronicles. I think this is a sneaky underrated card as the Gold Standard rookies are hard to find as it is and this is the parallel version of that. Absolutely love the design and hope that next year Panini can bring back Gold Standard as it's own stand alone product.

2016-17 Flawless Jamal Murray Autograph/Patch RC (#12/25)

So in January, I added a Murray Immaculate to my collection and last month I decided to upgrade a little bit and go with a Flawless Murray Patch/Auto. Numbered to only 25 copies, these Murray pickups are purely speculative and it'll be interesting to see how good this young Nuggets team can eventually be.

1998-99 UD Game Jerseys Ray Allen

The original UD Game Jersey cards from the late 90's are still some of my favorite cards ever made. They will always remind me of a time when these were HOLY GRAIL pulls. Cards you'd never think in a million years you'd own. I don't find them in auction often, but if and when I do, I do my best pick them up.

99-00 Fleer Brilliants Gold Parallel Anfernee Hardaway (#3/99)

I have been wanting this card for a LONG time. This goes back to even my first go around of collecting. I love gold cards and this card has always caught my eye. There's a super rarer 24K Gold version, but even the #99 are hard to find and sell well. I FINALLY was able to pick one up and it has become one of my favorite Penny's in my entire collection.

2001-20 Upper Deck MJ Comeback Commemorative Dual Jerseys (#16/50) (BGS 9.5)

Once upon a time, I had a TON of MJ Memorabilia cards. Jerseys, shoe, warm ups, etc. Of course I regrettably sold all those and it seems like to me MJ Memorabilia cards has been really difficult to find in the open market. When I saw this particular card, I knew it had to be mine. It contains not only a piece of game worn Bulls jersey, but of a North Carolina worn jersey as well! Such a great looking MJ card and the 9.5 grade doesn't hurt at all.

2016-17 Flawless Karl Anthony Towns Patch (#14/18)

For a guy of his caliber, Towns stuff really isn't too expensive in the least. This letter patch numbered to 18 only cost me about 35 bucks.

2016-17 Flawless Dual Diamond Memorabilia Karl Anthony Towns/Tim Duncan (#5/25)

I have a Duncan full game used jersey, but I still couldn't pass up this combo. Big nice patches of Timmy and Towns.

2003-04 Topps Chrome Gold Refractors Kevin Garnett (#87/99)

Now you KNOW I'm not going to let a gold refractor of KG get away from me. Love me some gold refractors and this one is such an amazing looking card!

1996-97 Topps Finest Rare Gold Refractor Kevin Garnett

This one is EVEN BETTER though. KG didn't have any refractors in 1995-96 so technically this is 2nd year refractor is one of his better ones. I have a Kobe Rookie like this, and this one is such a cool looking card. Very underrated in my opinion.

99-00 Topps Finest Gold Refractors Vince Carter (#40/100)

Yup..last but my least another Gold Refractor, this a 2nd year Vince Carter. So happy to add so many gold refractors to my collection!

And that'll do it for last month's pickups! I doubt I'll have any March pickups since I've bought so much wax this month.

Box Breaks: 4 Boxes of 2017-18 Select Basketball First Off The Line

So I talked about the madness that was Prizm First Off The Line late last year when Panini released a Prizm version of it and the website crashed with so many people trying to order it. I got blanked out. What are First Off The Line boxes (or FOTL)? Well, Panini sells an allocated amount of some of their products to their FOTL program and these boxes not only have special cards found only in these boxes (for example, Red Shimmer Parallels numbered to 8 in Prizm) but can also be bought for the original MSRP price. You also get these boxes in advance of the official release day. For some products this is a BIG deal, because of hype and popularity, products like Prizm sell for well over the MSRP price, even as a pre sale. This way guarantees to a chance to a buy at the original intended price. Prizm was SUCH a huge deal because Prizm Hobby boxes that run for $250 and upwards were available for $120. Demand was insane and the product instantly sold out. Those FOTL Prizm boxes now sell for $500 or more per box. Plus people also believe these boxes are "more loaded" than normal hobby boxes. So the next product to receive this kind of treatment is 2017-18 Select. Now, Select is not nearly as popular as Prizm, but it's a super nice set nonetheless and since boxes have been steadily climbing to over $170 before release, this was still going to be a highly demanded product. These too come with an exclusive parallel, a Neon Orange Pulsar Parallel numbered to 9. So last Friday when they went on sale, I got on the App to order some and lo and behold I was able to get 4 boxes without any kind of problem! Kudos to Panini for resolving their server issues, as there was no kind of problems whatsoever to order. The boxes naturally sold out within the hour (wish I would've bought more, but I have funds tied up elsewhere). I was pleasantly surprised to receive my boxes Friday (official release date is March 7th) so I opened my 4 boxes yesterday and today. So...are they "loaded" are they terrible or are they just like any other hobby offering? Here's what I got to answer those questions!

So..talk about a Jekyll and Hyde Break. I opened the first two boxes last night and hit the Kuzma and Simmons (both no brainer Top 5 hits) but it fell off a cliff today. For all the hype FOTL boxes gets, these boxes were no different than any other hobby box. There's literally 5 cards out of the whole break worth anything decent. Every single one of the numbered parallels outside of the Simmons were of CRAP players..not once decent numbered Prizm..not ONE. The memorabilia cards are worthless as it is, and even more when guys like Aaron Afflalo, Raymond Felton, and Terrance Ross make the set. These cards should in no way be considered "hits". To add further insult to injury I hit a Panini Rewards card...that is UNACCEPTABLE for these types of boxes. A waste of an auto hit. The Orange Pulsar exclusives were all crap except for Paul George. I hit 0 Tatums, Markkanens, Fultz, Kuzma, or Donovan Mitchell base cards. The Stockton is a nice on card auto, and the Josh Jackson Auto/Jersey is a decent hit (albeit a sticker auto), but outside of that literally nothing. At least I didn't pay $250 a box for this crap, but I sure wish now I sold them for that much. Overall disappointed considering the high expectations this stuff has. I would NOT touch this stuff at it's current price point at all. Here's some pics of the cards.
