Box Breaks: 6 Boxes of 2017 Allen & Ginter Hobby Baseball

So last year, I dabbled in a couple of blasters of this product and hit a relic. This year? Well with every baseball product scorching hot, I purchased 6 total boxes. I got 3 from Blowout and 3 from the Baseball Card King. I paid around $90 a box for these, so luckily I didn't pay the $115-$120 they are going for now. I know it's a quirky product, but it seemed like it would be a fun rip. How did I do? Here's the lonnnnnng breakdown

Jose Canseco Framed Magenta Printing Plate (#1/1)

Overall Thoughts: Well...that was exhausting. The cards are cool and unique, but I'm not going to lie...basically 3 boxes into it, I was getting pretty bored. You get 3 hits a box, and you're basically guaranteed that 2 of those hits are going to be a plain jersey relic swatch. This is basically a set builder's kind of set, so the majority of non baseball cards (there is only one non parallel baseball insert set and that is only a 1:2 pack set) are pretty much not worth much on the secondary market. Pulling Fish cards, dance cards, Revolutionary War cards don't really get ya pumped much (though I did get a chuckle out of the "World's Dudes" Insert cards), though I know, I'm not complaining, it's what Ginter is all about. I pulled 5 autos, but none of them are top names, and only one was a non baseball player (a golfer I've never heard of). Pulled a one rare mini, but it was Brian Dozier. Also, expect a TON of repeats if you buy multiple boxes (I know this is common sense, but still, after a couple boxes it gets really repetitive). Ironically with 6 boxes, I didn't pull not ONE Aaron Judge base rookie card. I know that I got my boxes from 2 different places, but you would think I'd get at the very least one, they aren't shortprinted or anything. The break fizzed out for me in boxes 4-5 and only picked up because I got a Foil hot box as my Box #6 which are one a case. It basically made every base card  I pulled "new" again which was fun. I also got 4 hits instead of the usual 3, and pulled a Jose Canseco 1/1 Printing Plate, which I quickly sold to a Canseco Super Collector I know on Blowout Cards. I doubt I'll do this much of this product again in the following years, but it was a moderately fun break. Again, if you didn't get this during presell, it's not something I'd go out of my way and buy. I actually ordered 4 boxes of the Allen & Ginter limited version of this product, Allen & Ginter X. It's already sold out and part of me just wants to go ahead and either hold and flip it or flip as soon as I get it. Haven't decided yet. Anyway, after I try to get some Topps Chrome through retail, I'm probably done with baseball. Here's pics of the cards

Box Breaks: 3 Boxes of 2017 Donruss Optic Baseball

So I did something I normally don't do with hot products. I bit the bullet and overpaid for these boxes. Granted at $110, it's still cheaper than most online retailers, but had I just pre ordered these at $75 a box I would've probably ordered a few more boxes at that price. I got scared off by the "allocation" scare. Made it sound like I wouldn't get my order if I had ordered and that mistake cost me big time. I still wanted to bust some of this regardless so I bought 3 boxes and hoped for the best. Here's what I got.

Overall Thoughts: Yeah..as far as hits go..this wasn't that great. This would look much more nicer at $75 a box, but at $110? Yeah I got destroyed. Regardless, I still love the cards and inserts and I did pull 3 Judges and 2 Bellinger's so not too bad on that front. Obviously for some, airbrushed unis are a turnoff. It doesn't bother me much. The Bregman is a pretty cool looking on card autograph, and I pulled a Gold Prizm, just wish it was of a better player. I'll probably end up moving that on Ebay. My only minor gripe is of course....COLLATION. How in the hell am I getting doubles of Aqua Prizms in just 3 boxes?! At least one of the doubles was of Giancarlo Stanton but still. Anyways, like a lot of baseball hobby boxes, I can't recommend this at it's current price (anywhere from $110-$134) it just can't deliver enough value at that price. Maybe try some blasters, or go the EBay route and pick up some singles. I hope Allen & Ginter treats me better this weekend. Here's pics of the cards.

Box Breaks: 4 Boxes of 2017 Topps Stadium Club Baseball Hobby

Topps Stadium Club baseball was the brand that brought me back into collecting last year. I dunno, something about the photography just pulled me in and it was the first cards I preordered in route to returning to this hobby. Makes sense I'd give it another whirl this season. Now I luckily preordered mine before they went to INSANE prices (Currently priced at a BONKERS $120 PER BOX!!) and got mine for a little over $63 a box. Could I replicate the fun of last year's break? Here's what I got!

Overall Thoughts: Well..at least I didn't pay $120 a box for this...Yeesch. Actually it was a pretty solid start in Box #1. A Gurriel autograph to #25 an Moncada Chrome Refractor rookie, along with a 1st Day Issue Card, and a Photo Variation. I thought this was start of something good...but it all in went downhill fast and never came close to recovering. The photography is top notch, but man...these autographs are BADDDD. I really wish card companies wouldn't jack prices up of stuff with these "guaranteed hits" when 80% of the "hits" are pretty awful. I'd be more happy with products like Stadium Club having higher odds on autos but a smaller autograph checklist, then promising two autos of guys that literally have no value in this hobby. Like 1:3 gold parallels are worth more than some of these guys autos. Just like last year, I got absolutely BLASTED on the autos with outside of Gurriel and Ryon Healy (who's auto isn't even a $10 card) just a bunch of scrubby autos. The parallels weren't that great either, I only got some good names in the 1:3 gold parallel and even with THOSE, the number of stars I pulled was maybe 4 or 5. It was cool getting a couple of Judge base rookies, but after those two cards I hit in Box 1 (which I literally hit out of the first 4 packs of cards), there was NOTHING exciting afterwards. My advice on this product, if you must, buy blasters, this is 100% avoidable at it's current price point. Hell, I got destroyed at HALF it's price point. Just a massacre. Safe to say my lucky streak is O-V-E-R. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come with 6 Boxes of Allen & Ginter and 3 Optic on the way. Here's pics of the cards
