Box Breaks: 8 Boxes of 2017 Topps Archives Signature Edition Active Player Edition

This seemed like an interested break and at $50 bucks a pop I thought I'd try my luck at some. Wish I hadn't...here's what I got

Overall Thoughts: This was the total opposite of yesterday's awesome break of Hoops. I dunno I'd be very lucky if these cards were worth 100 bucks combined? Total disaster. The Sonny Gray is a #1/1 but I don't think it's a big deal in this product where I'm assuming there's tons of 1/1. The only ones I'm interested in keeping are the Severino and Springer. Totally disappointed in this break.

Box Breaks: 3 Boxes of 17-18 NBA Hoops Hobby

So Hoops is the first product that actually features the new NBA rookie class in NBA uniforms. At first, I thought there was no way I'd be busting this because the initial pre sale for this was $90 a box. That's absurd for a low end product like Hoops. I was able to score 3 boxes (with the help of a 20% off promotion and some Ebay Bucks) on Ebay for about $67 a pop which is more in line on what I would be willing to spend. I love Hoops so I'm really glad I got a chance to break it at a reasonable price. Was it worth it? Here's what I got!

Jayson Tatum (#1/10)

Overall Thoughts: This was DEFINITELY a great break! I got all the main rookies plus doubles of Lonzo Ball and Jayson Tatum, this time collation on the autographs worked in my favor as I pulled two Malik Monk autos but he's one of the better rookies in this year's class so I'm totally fine with it. The Kuzma is actually a way better hit than I thought as he doesn't have much out there right now and the only card like mine sold for $250! The Jayson Tatum Holo Gold to 10 was just icing on the cake. It always feels good when you "beat the house" so to speak! This break over delivered and it was a fun overall break as well! Here's pics of the various inserts you can hit and the bigger hits of the break!

Box Breaks: 4 Boxes of 2017 Topps Archives Snapshots

So Topps Archives Snapshots is an online exclusive set offered on Topps website. For $25 a box you get 12 cards which includes a black and white parallel and an on card autograph. I thought for that price it was worth a shot at buying a few boxes. Obviously since the price point is so low, the catch is the better autographs are super SP'd so odds are you're going to get a ton of autos from average major leaguers from the past, but still to me it was worth a shot. The checklist is super small (50 cards) so expect a ton of duplicates the more boxes you buy. So how  did I do? Here's my break

Black and White Parallels
Francisco Lindor
Andrew Benintendi
Dansby Swanson
Orlando Arcia

Gold Border Parallel

Ryon Healy (#10/10)

Autographs
Ryon Healy (#84/350)
Wally Moon (#270/350)
Mark Mulder (#91/265)
Mark Langston (#117/346)

Overall Thoughts: Well, this is probably what a majority of breaks look like just interchange guys like Wally Moon/Mulder/Langston with guys like Cleon Jones and Carlos Baerga. Honestly I'm not even that upset about the mediocre autographs because I'd rather have autographs of guys who had some kind of success in the majors over unknown prospects who may never sniff the majors any day of the week. It would've been nice to pull a big monster, but the odds are overwhelmingly slim. I did pull a gold border but of Ryon Healy. That would been nice to pull a better player since those cards are hand numbered out of 10. Benintendi was my best Black and White Parallel and like I said expect duplicates with such a small checklist. It wasn't too bad considering, but I did pull 3 Altuve base cards. No Judges unfortunately. Honestly I think 4 boxes is a good number of boxes to open personally because this is basically a no frills small set with little variety so I could see this becoming a super boring break after a while. Definitely worth a shot at $25 to try out. Here's pics of the cards.

Throwback Thursday Set + Topps Now Card Of The Month

Back again with another Topps Throwback Thursday Set. This is the last of the 3 I have ordered (haven't been interested in the past couple of weeks) and it's another tribute to Record Breakers, this time using the 1988 Topps Record Breaker Design. Once again, it's an excuse to get another Judge and Bellinger in the PC, but the rest of the checklist is really strong with Mike Trout, Ichiro, Mark McGwire, and even Ted Williams rounding out the 6 card set. Here's pics of the cards.

I also got in my 2nd Topps Now card in the form of the Topps Now Card of The Month. I couldn't have picked a better time to redeem my Card of the month as the no brainer subject for September was Aaron Judge breaking the Rookie Home Run Record. Basically for every purchase you make on Topps Website you get reward points and one of things  you can redeem them for is to get the Card Of The Month. So not bad to get a cool looking Aaron Judge card for free! Here's the pic of the card

So I've made a TON of Topps Now purchases this month (Autographs and Autograph Relics) but since it's going to take a long time to get those in (not expecting those in for another 3 months or so) this will probably be my last post as far of Topps Now goes for a while, but rest assured when I get those cards in, I'll be showing them off here as soon as possible!

Another Throwback Thursday Set + My First Topps Now Card

So last week I got my 2nd Throwback Thursday set in, and this one uses the 1977 Topps Design and commemorates the single season home run record for the entire MLB being broken. Again, any excuse for more Bellinger's and Judge's works for me! I also love the set design as well. Here's the cards in the set

I'm really digging these sets and I have 1 more coming in probably this week, so can't wait to show that off. I also got my first Topps Now card in. I know relic cards nowadays are considered close to garbage, but as long as they are tied to a specific game, I still enjoy them. Topps Now had game worn jersey relics from MLB's Player's Weekend where the players got to use their nicknames on the backs of their jersey. I thought it was cool to get a relic card from that game and decided to get one of Kris Bryant. I know I overpaid, but since there was a chance for serial numbered cards (including patch cards) the price was a little higher than you'd think, but I still thought it was worth it. I didn't get a parallel, but am still really happy with the card. Here's my Kris Bryant Topps Now Player's Weekend Relic card.

Topps Throwback Thursday Set: Potential Gridiron Giants

So I know Topps Now has been around since last season but I've been really getting into it recently, including the Topps Throwback sets Topps produces every Thursday. I wish I would've been more aware of these because I LOVE throwback designs, and I for sure would've bought a lot more sets. I've been the last three weeks worth a sets as I think it's not a bad deal for $20. The cool thing to is basically these sets are printed to order, so after the week is over you know how many are made. So I got my first set in today and it's a tribute to the 1984 Topps Football design. The print run is 901 sets made. It's a pretty strong 6 card checklist led by of course, Aaron Judge. I absolutely love how these cards look! Look forward to getting the next 2 sets! Here's the set!
