Weekend Box Breaks: 4 Boxes of Bowman Platinum Collector's Boxes & 4 Boxes of 2018 Gold Standard Football

On the docket this weekend is 4 boxes of 2018 Bowman Platinum Baseball and 4 boxes of Gold Standard Football. First off, Bowman Platinum. A Wal Mart exclusive, last year I had a BLAST opening Bowman Platinum. I pulled two sweet Gleyber Torres autographs including one numbered to 25 along with some other good stuff. So initially I ordered two boxes from WalMart.com since this stuff came out last week and hadn't seen any at our Wal Mart. I ended up going to Wal Mart last night and it was FULLY STOCKED with 10 Collector Boxes and TONS of blasters and fat packs. I picked up two more collector boxes to rip. Here's how I did

Overall Thoughts: Another absolute dogshit baseball break, in what has become the norm for me recently. A lot of people HATE the look of the cards, but I actually like them. Unfortunately a couple of things happened that completely sucked the fun out of this break (besides the mediocre autos I predictably pulled). Insert collation was THE WORST. Seriously..4 boxes I pulled doubles and TRIPLES of most of the inserts. That's inexcusable and crappy. So frustrating seeing the same inserts in every box. Also I completely got skunked on box 3 as far as numbered parallels go. It looked like there were two packs were the 3rd card was backwards in the pack (a indication of an insert/auto/parallel) but they were just basic base cards. A dry collectors box with zero parallels is unbelievable but of course it happens to me. I pull to tough auto hits but of crap players of course. A waste of money, and would've been candidate for bust of the year had it not been for the god awful Finest case I opened. Seriously, baseball has been ROUGH to me since Topps Tier as I'm paying back my good luck in SPADES now to dangerously shitty levels. Pics of the cards

Well...can Football save my ass again? It's going to have to, but this is a much riskier break than Elite was. I've always been a fan of Gold Standard and was disappointed when it was discontinued as a full brand in Basketball. I decided to take a gamble on 4 boxes for Football. Please Football....get me back in the groove of things. Here's what I got

Overall Thoughts: What else can I say? More of the same. Crap Luck As Usual. It's almost like the universe felt like my super luck streak was some kind of oversight and not only did they correct it, but they are making me pay in spades for it. It's been unbelievable how downright bad my luck is. So the cards..yes I love Gold Standard and how they look. It's hilarious what a trend I have as far as breaking goes. My 1st box is decent (not even "good" just eh decent start) and it descends as I open every box and the last box always happens to be the worst (Topps Tier 1 notwithstanding). That's what once again happened here. Decent start but the rookie auto got worse and worse as the breaks went on. The Zeke Patch is cool, especially as a Cowboys fan, but a)it's player worn (because that's all Panini uses for Football cards nowadays) so it probably has little value. The Ronald Jones Auto Jersey is good, it's not great, but it's good, but that was the best hit of the entire break and "good" isn't going to cut it. Man it's so frustrating that break after break isn't just bad..it's laughably 10% ROI bad. I have three more total breaks coming up (1 case of FOTL Optic Baseball, 2 boxes of Spectra Basketball, and a Box of 2018 WWE Undisputed). After that though, I seriously have to consider taking a break from busting wax. As fun as it is initially, it's not fun break after break pulling $30 worth of cards while spending $500. I'm not trying to be greedy and ask for monster hits everytime but damn, it'd be nice to have a balanced break every once in a while. Anyways, end of rant. Here's pics of the cards.

    1. I just hate that the majority of vet and hof cards are now "player worn" like rookies...as if mem cards weren't worth much as it is..now almost every mem hit is just player worn
