Overall Thoughts: Yup, a totally fun box to rip open. Tons of inserts and I pulled the two best rookies you could pull (Wiggins and Parker). Nothing huge on the hit part, but at this price point that's pretty expected. I now know what bugs me when it comes to inserts in the modern era...they feel more like subsets to me. No kind of foil, nothing pops out, and that's kind of a bummer because even low end products back in the day like Hoops, Skybox and Base Topps had nice looking insert sets..even lower end inserts sets had great designs. I do like the Elite Dominators insert..at least it looks like an insert and the Swirl O Rama Parallels, but the Court Kings/Production Line/Scoring King inserts just really look like subset cards. I wish more effort was put into insert sets, because overall (and this has basically been a problem since the early 00's to me) inserts in general are bland. There are some exceptions, but for the most part the lower end inserts are treated like afterthoughts because they look like afterthoughts. Regardless, it was still a fun break and if you're looking for a cheap basketball rip with a chance of some nice hits, you really can't go wrong with Donruss. Here are some pics

  2. I like busting Donruss Basketball when I get a chance. It's nice and cheap, but with all of the base and inserts and parallels and hits it feels like you are getting a good rip for the money. That's a pretty rare feeling these days when busting packs.

I do agree that many of today's inserts are pretty bland compared to things like mid-90's Hoops and Fleer, but that era had plenty of pretty basic inserts, too. We just remember the exciting ones more because they stood out.
