Cardfest Day 5 Breaks!

So far, the retail portion of cardfest has been exactly what to expect. Extreme hit or miss. Some days really good (like Friday) some days really bad (like yesterday) and some days just average (like last weekend). We're winding down the retail portion and are getting closer to finishing that up (though I still have a TON of retail basketball prizm to open). Like I said yesterday, with my friend coming down later this afternoon, I might be able to only open a couple products today, but hey it's better than nothing! Here's what I'll start out with

2017 Rookie and Stars Longevity Target Exclusive Box

So this is next on our retail list. This has seemed like a fun break when I've seen others open it, so hoping it'll be the same for me! Here's what I got

Notable Base RC's DeShone Kizer
Dalvin Cook
Evan Engram

Action Packed

Barry Sanders
Jerry Rice

Great American Heroes
Len Dawson

Standing Ovation

Steve Smith
Travis Kelce

Prowlers
Steve Atwater

Precision Passing
Jim Kelly
Dak Prescott

Airborne
Marcus Allen
Larry Fitzgerald

Rookie Rush
James Connor

Rookie Longevity Gold

James Connor (#2/10)

Black Printing Plate
Brandon Marshall (#1/1)

Cross Training Dual Jersey
Evan Engram (#71/99)

Year One Prime Jersey Patch

Josh Reynolds (#3/25)

Rookie Longevity Signatures Purple

Jonathan Allen (#18/49)

Overall Thoughts: Well..pretty average retail break. The Dual Jersey was of at least of a relevant skill player in Engram..Reynolds has some potential with a low numbered patch card and though defensive players get no love Jonathan Allen isn't a bad auto to hit. Also pulled a printing plate, which means nothing in today's hobby, but it's still cool. All in all still a fun break! Pics of the cards!

Well..knocked that one out fast, so it's onto the next product, which is one I've been anticipating for a while now. Here's what next!

2017 Topps Gallery Baseball

So it's time to open the 2017 Topps Gallery Box. I believe I've been holding this now for about a month and it's FINALLY time rip! This is probably the best of the retail bunch (outside of the upside of Prizm Basketball). I know the auto checklist is weak and breaks CAN be brutal, but hoping to buck the trend here. Here we go!

Notable RC's Alex Bregman
Dansby Swanson
Ian Happ
Andrew Benintendi
Aaron Judge

Base SP (1:20)

Todd Frazier

Hall of Fame (1:5)
Harmon Killebrew
Mike Piazza
Lou Gehrig
Richie Ashburn

Gallery Heritage (1:10)
Mike Trout
Kris Bryant

Masterpiece (1:10)
Mookie Betts
Paul Goldschmidt

Masterpiece Green (1:98)

Derek Jeter (#218/250)

Player's Private Issue (1:8)
Bradley Zimmer (#73/250)
Jake Arrieta (#70/250)

Blue Parallel (1:98)
Stephen Strasburg (#11/50)

Topps Gallery Autographs (1:15)
Greg Bird

Topps Gallery Autographs Green (1:69)
Lucas Giolito (#38/99)

Overall Thoughts: These cards are so amazingly good looking. Gallery truly has some nice cards. Value wise, well not much. The Bird is a decent auto hit, and it was cool pulling a numbered Masterpiece Jeter, but nothing really jumps out as far as a big hit. Still a fun rip! Here's a look at the cards.

So I'm going to hold off the 15-16 Prizm for now, since I have a lot to open and I don't think I'll be able to finish it in one sitting today. Instead I'll start with the Hobby Boxes and we'll kickoff with this.

2012-13 Marquee Basketball

So we'll go ahead on open a lower end product from the 12-13 season in Panini Marquee. Hope it's better than the first 12-13 stuff I opened in Prizm Retail!

Notable Rookies Jimmy Butler Black Holoboard
Chandler Parsons Black Holoboard
Kemba Walker Swirlorama
Anthony Davis Laser Cut
Damian Lillard White Die Cut
Kyrie Irving Swirlorama

All Rookie Laser Cut

Kyrie Irving
Chris Webber

Champions Laser Cut
Tim Duncan
Horace Grant

Rookie Rivals

Ray Allen/Kobe Bryant

Stars of The Night
Kenneth Faried
DeMarcus Cousins
Kevin Durant

Slam Dunk Legends
Dwyane Wade
Shaquille O'Neal

Autographs
Landry Fields

Rookie Signatures

Andrew Nicholson
Isaiah Thomas Redemption

Overall Thoughts; Fun Little Break. There's a HUGE base set but it's because each rookie has like 5 base variations. The different rookie cards are pretty cool and I love the look of the inserts, especially the Slam Dunk Legends. The Isaiah Thomas Redemption probably saved the break from being a dud and put it into the average break. Luckily Panini honors expires redemptions so I've already redeemed it. Here's pics of the cards!

Overall Day 5 Thoughts: Well, we finished off most of the retail breaks today (besides Prizm Basketball) and started with a low end basketball to end the day. Another average, yet unspectacular day. Hopefully though, as we get into the Hobby Boxes, we'll have some more luck.

  1. Congratulations on pulling a printing plate. That's pretty cool.

    1. Thanks Fuji! Even though printing plates don't carry much value, it's always fun to pull a 1 of 1!!
